Should I write a blog about last night’s show?
Not just yet.
Let me talk about the above photos first. I don’t get to see many great sunsets where I live. So when the opportunity arises where I can stop pretending to be a guitar god and focus on the real world, I take it. As Supernova were setting up for the gig (more on that later), the sky was breathtaking and majestic. Of course I had to run outside and snap photos.
In the past I would have just gone on with whatever was in front of me. I never stopped to fully embrace and appreciate life. Was busy thinking I could be someone in the music world, as well as whatever full-time job I was a slave to. Hard to be a human when you’re shackled to someone else’s ideals and flawed authority.
But over time I have trained myself to just STOP and look around. I’ve done nature walks for years and while I take pics of the leaves turning colors or something odd on the bike trail (some stuff I can’t being to talk about!), last night was different. I’d played Jefferson House before but on the outside deck, and it was glorious watching the sun set as we played. I wasn’t able to take pics because, well, we were performing. This time however, it was early enough and we’d not done soundcheck yet.
So with that said, I raced outside and snapped away. Put the phone away soon after and then reverted back to the tasks at hand. Looked at the pics this morning and was stunned by how gorgeous everything looked. I hope you feel the same way when you see them.
Oh and the show was fantastic! Great crowd, lots of dancing, added new songs and the band sounded wonderful. Nice to finally be a part of something where I truly fit and not be asked “Why do you play like that?” and whatever. If anything, the band encourages me to step up, and in turn, they rise to the occasion too. Everyone points that out and accepts it. Win/win for all.
I also have to add that I’ve chosed to downgrade this site so I don’t have to pay anything anymore. However, some privileges may go away. If anyone wishes to “gift” this website, there’s a banner at the top of the home screen. If not, that’s okay. If that’s the case, I may do away with this website at the end of the year. No sense keeping it.
Overall, my birthday week has been spectacular.
Here’s to 57!
