STILL PINCH MYSELF

Twenty-two years ago, and with only two guitars in my arsenal at the time, I became an artist endorser for Ibanez guitars. I still pinch myself. I won’t rehash the whole story, as you can find it on here under the title “20 Years”. Everything you need to know is there. But I will sayContinue reading “STILL PINCH MYSELF”

WHERE I NEED TO BE

That pic was taken Sunday afternoon after I gave a bass lesson to a student. His mom handed me this sign and I was like “What’s this?” She said, “You said this to my son and we both felt inspired to do this for you.” WOW! I am truly humbled for sure. I didn’t thinkContinue reading “WHERE I NEED TO BE”

THE FOURTH QUARTER

I’m typing this blog on the first day of September. Amazing that we are in the fourth quarter of the year, the “ber” months as some will call them. There’s still some summer left, so let’s not speed things up, okay? I am look forward to what the rest of the year brings. Those whoContinue reading “THE FOURTH QUARTER”

WHAT A WEEKEND!!!

What a weekend!! Actually, the whole week was great. Haven’t said that in a long time. Getting more private students, as well as more students between the two stores where I teach. Oh and I did two gigs this weekend… Let’s recap! Friday night was the gig with Supernova at Black River Barn. I’ve playedContinue reading “WHAT A WEEKEND!!!”

SHOULD I TRY SOMETHING A TAD DIFFERENT?

As I get ready for these two upcoming gigs this weekend, I realized something. Between the two bands, I am doing ninety songs!!! That’s like, um, a lot. I am very much looking forward to throwing down with Supernova again at the legendary Black River Barn this Friday night. And then the next afternoon willContinue reading “SHOULD I TRY SOMETHING A TAD DIFFERENT?”

HALFWAY DONE

So I played a gig this past Friday with the cover band CRASH. Yeah it was cool, perfect weather, outdoor gig, played for only 90 minutes as opposed to doing three sets over the course of a few hours. Not complaining at all, if anything I am grateful for any opportunities that swing my way.Continue reading “HALFWAY DONE”

WHO? ME?

Last Saturday I attended Metalfest 10 in Teaneck NJ at Debonair Music Hall. I had a good time, nice to see old friends, meet new ones, hear some pummeling heavy music and enjoy a kick-ass burger. But two questions kept coming up while I was hanging around… “Doing any new music?” “Playing Metalfest next year?”Continue reading “WHO? ME?”

WORDS THAT STILL ECHO…

Many years ago, in a (empty) galaxy far far away, I worked at a music store. Sold guitars, amps, pedals. Was stressful but could be fun just the same. In the guitar department was a gentleman named James who always seemed to have wise words for me when I was struggling to be recognized andContinue reading “WORDS THAT STILL ECHO…”

DO YOU UNDERSTAND?

Ever have a conversation with someone and certain words just drop on you like a bomb? That happened to me this morning (Monday March 17) at 7:49. Buckle up for this blog… I am going to copy/paste what my friend The Oddest Owl wrote me this morning when we talked about someone putting her workContinue reading “DO YOU UNDERSTAND?”

TIME TO ADMIT SOMETHING

We live in a dangerously nostalgic age. I think since the lockdowns in 2020, people had no choice but to revert back to their past, and dig up old photos/videos. We all reminisce, and that’s okay. It’s proof we’re still alive and breathing. But to stay in the past? No thanks. But I am goingContinue reading “TIME TO ADMIT SOMETHING”
